Elaina Beam (Swami Karikananda) is a kriya yoga practitioner and a life student of yogic philosophy and esoteric wisdom. As an educator and guide in the art of yoga sadhana, Elaina’s intention is to expand awareness of body and mind while encouraging self-acceptance, peace of mind, and equanimity to ultimately raise consciousness and transform our way of being through yogic methodology. Her education at the Temple of Kriya Yoga included studies of Eastern Philosophy, World Religions, Esoteric Yoga, Sanskrit, and Astrology. She is also a Mystical Activism graduate through the Center for Sacred Leadership and holds a B.A. in Communications.

Elaina is an ordained swami studied through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and is a disciple of Sri Goswami Kriyananda who carries the flame of the holy kriya lineage of Sri Babaji, passed on to him from his guru Sri Shelliji and his param guru Paramahansa Yoganandaji.
As a Hatha Yoga Instructor Elaina received her teaching certification with Diane Wilson in Portland, Oregon after an intensive 6 month private training and 3 year advanced group practice.
